Palermo vice president Guglielmo Micciche says playmaker Javier Pastore is likely to join Chelsea (11/4 Premier League outright) in the near future.
The president of the Italian club, Maurizio Zamparini, stated on Saturday that the Argentine forward is likely to leave the club in the summer with Manchester City, Chelsea and Roma expected to bid for him.
However, it is believed the Blues (8/1 Champions League outright) are in pole position to seal the 22-year-old’s signature and are thought to have lodged a bid in line with the £39.7million asking price.
Pastore has been at the Sicilian club since 2009 and after an impressive couple of seasons in Serie A, has become one of Europe’s hottest properties.
Now it looks as if he is to set to move to one of Europe’s top clubs and would be a welcome addition at Stamford Bridge as new boss Andre Villas-Boas looks to boost his attacking options ahead of the new season.
Micciche believes that west London is the player’s most likely destination.
